EMDR

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - is a type of therapy that enables you to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. With the help of EMDR, you can move painful memories that feel stuck into the part of the brain that will help you move on and heal.

Together we will identify memories and beliefs that are impacting your life in a negative way. Then continue by guiding you through the session, inviting your brain to heal itself. By focusing on the trauma of the past, troubles in the present, or anxiety about the future, EMDR will help activate your brain's information processing.

FAQ

How many sessions of EMDR are needed?

EMDR therapy is based on an eight phase model and treatment consists of 6-12 sessions or more depending on the complexity of client's needs and experiences.

What is Bilateral Stimulation (BLS)?

Bilateral Stimulation is the use of alternating right, left stimulation such as tapping on the knees, legs or shoulders, tapping toes or feet on the floor, or eye movements. Bilateral stimulation is used to activate and integrate information from the brain’s two hemispheres. As this happens, for reasons believed by a Harvard researchers to be connected with the biological mechanisms involved in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, internal associations arise and the clients begin to process the memory and disturbing feelings.

Can EMDR be done online or virtually?

Yes. We have options for different types of bilateral stimulation.
